So, does the state pay these people a gigantic reparations fund for basically letting hysterical nutbags railroad them into a 20-year prison sentence?

Maybe the state could pay that back by instituting an ass-bleeding tax on every church in the region who participated in fomenting the panic in the first place. I think that would be about fair. And by ass-bleeding tax, I mean the kind that closes church doors forever.

Depends on state law. Unless the state has set up a reparations system, they will get nothing.

You know that’s not going to happen.

I’m just wishing aloud that the assholes responsible for this would actually face some accountability. I mean, this is Texas so who am I kidding? Everyone gets a slap on the back and they all go home.

How do you even put a $ value on those lost years locked up in prison. Nothing can bring that back.

It’s not just Texas. Look at what the good, liberal state of Massachusetts did to the Amiraults — Link. AFAIK they got nothing, not even their names cleared, and it sure smells like politically motivated interference was used to keep them from being freed sooner.
